    8,000 Families Receive Food Parcels

Beirut — The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in collaboration with the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC), has launched a large humanitarian initiative to distribute food parcels to around 8,000 families across 55 regions within 5 kilometers range from the blue line in southern Lebanon. This effort aims to provide much-needed relief to families affected by ongoing tensions and escalations, economic challenges, and instability in the region.

The distribution, which started on May 27, is one step as part of a broader and long-term effort to bring assistance and support vulnerable and affected communities in southern Lebanon.
“We are deeply committed to supporting the people living in southern Lebanon during these challenging and difficult times,” said Shady Ramadan, the Head of ICRC sub-delegation in Tyr.

“Our cooperation with the Governor, the municipalities and the Lebanese Red Cross enables us to reach and assist many families, ensuring that those in need receive help in a timely manner. This is made possible by our commitment to neutrality and our acceptance which was built over the years.”
The Lebanese Red Cross, emphasized the importance of this joint operation: “The Lebanese Red Cross is supporting families within 5 and 10 kilometers range from the blue line in southern Lebanon, in collaboration with the ICRC, IFRC, Kuwaiti Red Crescent, Qatari Red Crescent and Iraqi Red Crescent.”

This initiative is part of the ongoing response implemented by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Lebanese Red Cross to mitigate the impact of the multifaceted crisis and of the escalations in southern Lebanon more specifically. In addition to this food parcels distribution, the ICRC continues to support health services, water projects, and other essential programs to address the needs in southern Lebanon.
